FIDEC is a non-stock, non-profit service institution for the marginal fisherfolk in region 7. It was established in 1985 as the Fishermen’s Development Center, Inc. In keeping with modifications made to its orientation in 1995, its name and territorial scope was changed. Since then FIDEC is referred to as the Central Visayas Fisherfolk Development Center, Inc.

Vision.Mission.Goal
Vision
A fishery sector in Central Visayas that puts into action its priority rights and gives primacy to the correct use of resources, free from foreign control and monopoly and able to generate appropriate technology and manpower aimed at promoting local industrialization and sustainable development.
Mission
FIDEC works with fisherfolk sectors in Central Visayas in order to advance their socio-economic and political well-being by providing support services such as organizing, education and training, information dissemination, socio-economic and livelihood projects, and marine ecology enhancement programs.
Goals
- To assist the initiatives of fisherfolk toward sectoral organizing and empowerment;
- To support fisherfolk groups in formulating and implementing their own socio-economic development agenda at the community level;
- To assist fisherfolk groups in pursuing activities and programs that promote the renewal, enhancement, and protection of coastal and community resources;
- To help popularize fisherfolk issues and demands through an integrated and comprehensive multimedia program.
